In the beginning, social media was small.
You could follow everyone. You could read everything. The stream was manageable because there weren't that many people creating content. The learning curve was steep—most people were still figuring out that sharing their thoughts online was even possible, let alone valuable.
The incentives were invisible. No one knew there was a game to win.
The Accidental Winners
Then something interesting happened.
A few people started sharing consistently. They weren't trying to "build an audience"—they were just thinking out loud, documenting their work, having conversations in public.
And they started winning games they didn't know they were playing.
Opportunities appeared. Job offers. Speaking invitations. Collaborations. Book deals. The people who happened to share early and consistently found themselves with something valuable: attention from people who cared about their ideas.
This made the incentives visible.
The Rush
Once people saw that sharing online could lead to real-world opportunities, the floodgates opened.

The Creator's Loneliness
Here's the fundamental human need: creation without feedback is lonely.

"Won't people just filter into echo chambers?"
This is a real concern, but the composable architecture actually makes it less likely than current algorithms.
Current platforms:
- You can't see the algorithm's logic
- You can't audit your own filter bubble
- The algorithm optimizes for engagement (which rewards confirmation bias)
Composable filters:
- Filters are explicit and auditable
- You can deliberately configure for diverse input
- Community can share "anti-echo-chamber" filters

If you want to avoid echo chambers, you can configure for it. Can't do that with black-box algorithms.

Fragmentation is already happening. Traditional platforms hide it by showing everyone engagement-optimized content that flattens real differences.
Composable algorithms make fragmentation visible and navigable.

The key: You can use proven filters without understanding them, but you can understand them if you want to.

"Platforms will never allow this"
You're right. They won't.

Your MetaSPN profile lives in a git repo you control. Your filters live locally. The analysis happens on your machine (or your chosen service).
Platforms can integrate if they want. But they don't have to. The system works regardless.
